What is Informational Text?
Informational texts are sources of texts that people rely on for information. These can include things like magazines, newspapers, and textbooks. All informational texts are non-fiction.
Types
Textbooks- A textbook contains academic information about certain subjects such as math, history, and English.
News Articles- A factual writing which reports on current events in things such as politics, world affairs, and health. They can appear in newspapers at regular intervals or online.
Feature Articles- Features in-depth coverage of a wide variety of topics. Can be in newspapers and magazines.
Web Site- An interactive text that is found on the Internet. A website can be created by anyone about almost anything.
Instructional Manuals- Are generally acquired along with purchased products. The manual gives instructions on how to set up or use the instrument.
